Chocolate body paint. Oh, yuuuuuum!

Jan 23, 2014  ·  4 min read

Who hasn’t dreamt of being drizzled in chocolate at some point? If you haven’t we bet you are now. OK, stop it!

So you want to satisfy your deliciously dark desires, yes?

Rather than buying goopy synthetic chocolate body paint, pretend you’re Juliette Binoche in the movie Chocolat and try out our simple homemade recipe. It only takes 10 minutes to knock up and the consistency is so smooth you’ll easily be able to paint lust notes on each other’s bodies – or perhaps chocolate tattoos.

Worried about staining the sheets? We must warn you, there is that element of danger. But our chocolaty concoction is so luscious we bet it will hit your lips before it hits the linen…

Note: Check with your lover about any allergies they may have before you make this body paint. While this recipe is safe for wheat and gluten allergies, it does contain dairy, although you could try substituting the butter for vegetable oil or delicious coconut oil for those with lactose intolerance.

You will need:

6 tablespoons of Raw Cacao Powder
6 tablespoons of water
6 tablespoons of butter
6 tablespoons of golden caster sugar
A good pinch of sea salt
A small jar (we used one Rajtan IKEA jar)

1 Place all of the ingredients into a saucepan and gently heat until the butter and the sugar has dissolved. The mixture should be glossy (thanks to the butter) and easy to drizzle or paint with. We used Raw Cacao Powder (made with cold-pressed cocoa beans with the fat removed) for it’s intense chocolaty taste. As a bonus it’s also a healthy option because it’s packed with nourishing minerals such as iron, magnesium and calcium.

2 Let the chocolate body paint cool. In the meantime, sterilize your jar by popping it in a saucepan of water and bringing it to boiling point. We used a Rajtan jar from IKEA, which holds 200mls – and there was enough chocolate body paint left over to have a good lick of the saucepan. Don’t get too carried away, or it will spoil the fun later.

3 Pour the chocolate body paint into the jar. It can be applied to the body with fingertips, drizzled, or with a soft clean make-up brush.

4 If you’re giving the paint as a sexy gift, tie a new make-up brush to the jar with some ribbon, which could be used for bedroom play. Don’t forget to attach a saucy message label.

5 The paint will keep for as long as the butter is in date and if it starts to go a little hard, it can be heated up in the microwave. If you haven’t used a microwavable jar, you could carefully submerge the jar into a bowl of hot water.

Saucy extras:

The above recipe makes delicious chocolate body paint as it is, but you can alter it to suit your own personal taste by adding other star ingredients…

Booze

Go for an extra kick by adding a tablespoon of your favourite liquor as the sauce is cooling. We love Baileys, Amaretto or Raspberry vodka.

Popping candy

Serve up the chocolate body paint with a sprinkling of popping candy for a sexy snap, crackle and pop sensation.

Edible glitter

You could add some edible glitter to the sauce to make it look pretty. But be warned, you could be sparkling for days and it won’t just be down to that after-sex glow; put it this way you may have to hideout in bed.

Syrup

For those with an extra sweet tooth, add a shot of syrup. This will mean that things could get sticky and it’s probably best to give it a miss if he’s got a hairy chest. Alternatively, if he wants a body wax, it could be ideal.

… And just say no to red-hot chili peppers!

We’ve noticed some recipes out there mention adding chili peppers to chocolate body paint. While chili and chocolate are a taste sensation, we all know what happens when you touch a raw chili pepper and then a sensitive area of the body. Probably not the kind of ‘hot’ you’re after.
