Valentine’s Day In Sydney

Feb 3, 2016  ·  3 min read

By Ben Stephens.

Roses are red, violets are blue – Valentine’s is on a Sunday, so what will we do?

This year, the day that’s usually spent parading your love for another, is falling on the seventh day, making you well placed to create a flawless date. If you feel a little lost with what to do and find yourself in Sydney on this special day, we came up with a range of ideas to have you feeling the love.

Note – Add copious amounts of cheese and wine for best results.

Tropfest

The worlds biggest short film festival is back on and will be taking place in Sydney’s Centennial Park. Tropfest holds a certain date night vibe, the one with parklands, short films and free admission. You won’t be alone here, weather dependant, this is lining up to be one of the biggest Tropfests in the way of audience numbers. Get in early with the rug to nab the perfect spot. For more details, check out the Tropfest website.

Sunsets

If no one sees the sunset, does it really set? Yep, it does, science proved it. Now, to catch the perfect Sydney sunset there are a number of places you and bae can head to. You can check out how the colours change in Hyde Park, make your way to the harbour and take in the cloud play during dusk or hit the Botanical Gardens for some pink and orange pastels pitched against a city silhouette. If you’re feeling adventurous, you can make the 90 minute trek (by car) to the Blue Mountains National Park and just ‘be’ as the sun begins to play with the surrounding clouds and a natural colour palette.

Old School Combo

If these adventures are all a little too much, the winning combination of an amazing dinner with an equally awesome hotel room is, well, a winner. It’s an easy win, but guaranteed brownie point-gainer. You could plan a surprise getaway – tell your squeeze to pack an overnight bag, drop it off to the team at QT Sydney earlier in the day, while at the same time collect your room keys. Then later in the evening, when you have finished your romantic dinner for two at Gowings Bar & Grill, whisk your lover upstairs to your abode for the evening. We can help you with the finer details of all this.

We here at QT Sydney wish you all the best with secret admirers, choosing the right rose and for those of you that are rocking the single life, we hope your Netflix (and chill?) account is active with a friendly reminder that it might be about time to re-watch House of Cards before season four lands on March 4.
